Mitchell Silver at East CAC meeting Monday

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

The East CAC will meet on Monday, March 15th at 7 PM at Lions Park Community Center, 516 Dennis Avenue.

We’ve got an exciting meeting this month with Planning Director Mitchell Silver and staff speaking to us about the upcoming plans for our New Bern Avenue and Capital Boulevard corridors. As you know, these areas have been neglected for years but now our city is turning its attention to them, putting development plans in place that will guide their growth for years to come.

Come hear what the city has in mind and tell us what you’d like these two “Main Streets” of East Raleigh to look like. We want to hear from you!

In addition, the East CAC OPED committee will meet at 6:30 before the main meeting to discuss the formation of separate Planning, Outreach, and Economic Development committees. If you’d like to play a role in one or more of these new committees, you’re encouraged to come to this meeting.

A reminder: this month’s meeting will be held in the community center’s gymnasium as our usual meeting room is being renovated.

Everyone have a great week and we’ll see you Monday!

Note: This CAC meeting will be streamed live on the Internet.

Projects needed for Service Raleigh day, March 27th

Friday, February 26th, 2010

It’s that time of year when the NCSU volunteers with Service Raleigh look for projects to assist with in the community. Some Service Raleigh volunteers will be planting trees in East Raleigh in association with Trees Across Raleigh. Beyond that, there are still opportunities for these folks to help improve our community.

This year’s Service Raleigh day is Saturday, March 27th.

If you know of projects around East Raleigh that a team of volunteers could assist with, such as trash collection, insulating or painting homes, stream cleanup, or other such projects, let me know and I’ll work to get them done. The deadline for submitting projects is March 5th (next week), so please send those ideas ASAP!

Find out more at http://www.serviceraleigh.org.

Have a great weekend!
